Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, the business development manager will deploy a “go to market” strategy for North America East Territory to achieve Selexis short and long-term business goals.
She/He will act with the highest level of integrity to grow the business by driving sales and profit.
ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) SUREtechnology Platform Licensing:
- Networking and lead generation
- Identifying, qualifying and prospecting new leads for cell line development and genome characterization services
- Negotiate contracts
- Close cell line development service contracts, commercial and R&D license deals
2) Team role:
- Participate in cross continent licensing, team and marketing activities, in accordance with the Business Plan and Business Development managers across the world (Asia, Europe and North America West)
- Undertake business development activities in coordination with business development counterparts at KBI Biopharma in order to maximize market coverage and opportunities for cross selling
3) Other:
- Give direction to Strategic Alliance Manager for Proposal Writing
- Build and maintain relationship with existing client base
- Participate in weekly team meetings
- Provide a weekly forecast report for the respective clients within the North America East territory
- Implement, monitor and report business development and marketing plan for the North America East territory
- Initiate and participate in company sponsored territory events
- Support company marketing initiatives to broader company business objectives
- Attend company sponsored conferences and develop network of potential leads
- Grow the client-database for the North America East territory
- Gather competitor information and perform intelligence work on the North America East Territory

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
MUSTS
- Advance degree, MSc or PhD. in Biology with a basic understanding of protein expression and/or mammalian cell line development
- 2-5 years’ biopharmaceutical industry experience ideally with 2+ years Sales and/or Business Development function
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, people person
- Creative thinking, flexible, hard worker and committed to results
- Ability to negotiate
- Highly motivated, dependable, able to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent communications skills are mandatory including writing, speaking, and presentation.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word and Power Point
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Position requires both domestic and international travel.
- Ability to work remotely. The Ideal candidate will be located in the Boston/Cambridge area
NICE TO HAVE
- Demonstrable knowledge of Biologics Drug Development including Biologics CMC and cGMP manufacturing a plus
- Experience dealing with senior management of diverse cultural backgrounds would be of an added value
- Ability to discuss and negotiate with C level interlocutor
